BINGO FUNDRAISER RAISES OVER £1K FOR YEOVIL DEMENTIA CARE HOME
A bingo evening at Yeovil’s Quicksilver Mail Pub raised £1100 in aid of the residents’ fund for people living at Chestnut Lodge.
Prizes were donated by families of residents, local businesses (Yeovil Town FC, The Manor Hotel and Refined Beauty) and staff who work at the home.
Gary Shackle, activities co-ordinator at Chestnut Lodge, said: “We were blown away by the extraordinary success of this fundraising evening.
“People were so generous with the gifts they donated, and we were so pleased by how much everyone enjoyed themselves on the night.
“We owe a special vote of thanks to Pete Lambden, landlord of the Quicksilver Mail, who kindly allowed us to hold the bingo evening at his pub free of charge.
“We had a full house, with over 60 people coming along to take part, and it was just a great evening.
“Our next fundraiser, which will also take place at the Quicksilver Mail Pub, is a quiz evening on Sunday 10 May. Teams are invited to contact Chestnut Lodge to book a table while there are still some available because we’re expecting places to be in high demand.
“The money raised will be used to improve the outdoor space at the home and make the garden more beautiful for our residents.”
