All the fun of the summer fete at Chestnut Lodge

Team work and terrific support from the local business community, friends and family members has been credited with making Chestnut Lodge’s summer fete such a great success.

Manager Graham Oakes said: “It was a very busy, very tiring day but what a summer fete! All the time and effort so many people put in was totally worth it.

“The most important thing was that everybody seemed to enjoy themselves enormously, but we also succeeded in raising £567 towards our activities fund – which is very exciting.

“We were thrilled that the lovely Val Stones from Great British Bake Off not only agreed to open the fete for us, but also brought along some of her super cakes.

“It was a full-on traditional affair with tombola, crafts, bric a brac, raffle and woodwork stalls, a fantastic barbecue and high tea, and of course live music and entertainment.

“There are so many people we need to thank, not least my wonderful colleagues at Chestnut Lodge, many of whom came in on their days off to run stalls or be an extra pair of hands.

“Fabulous music was provided by the Happy Pluckers and it was so lovely to see many of our residents and their friends and family members joining in the fun. Our ladies and gents are what it’s all about, after all.

“Finally, we’d like to say a huge ‘thank-you’ to the many local people and businesses who supported us, not least with donations and raffle prizes. We appreciate it very much.”
