Family fun day at Camelot House and Lodge

Residents, families and staff marked the end of June with a sunny family fun day at Camelot House and Lodge.

Manager Zillah Oakes said: “Given the heatwave that preceded it, we were glad we had a slightly cooler weekend – it was sunny and warm without being too hot, and just right for our ladies and gents to sit out in the shade.

“We had some wonderful singing from The Jems, Kiera Chard and Ryju Putheneettill, our very own clinical lead, who sang a variety of English and Indian favourites.

“And the Northfield Ukulele Strummers were there too – always a musical treat.

“We also a beautiful Indian dance performance by 10-year-old Helena Anil, daughter of our team leader, Jinol.

“Thanks to our enthusiastic staff and family members there was a really interesting variety of stalls as well.

“We hadn’t set out to make this a dedicated fundraising event – we were just focused on giving everyone a fun and sociable day – but we ended up with a profit of £500 to contribute to our residents’ fund anyway, so that was great.

“Steve Boothe, our maintenance man, did a stellar job behind the barbecue, and received a lot of compliments on the quality of his sausages and burgers.

“One of the residents’ families did some amazing baking and ran a ‘Guess the weight of the cake’ stall.

“We also had ‘How many sweets in the jar’ and a stall with a selection of wrapped ‘lucky dip’ bottles – some containing wine and some containing water.

“And finally, there was a wonderful ‘Taste of India’ stall where colleagues treated our residents and guests to some delicious Indian food and also delighted people by painting henna designs on their hands.

“We’d like to say a huge thank-you to everyone who helped to make the day such a success!”
