INAUGURAL PANCAKE RACE AT DEER PARK

Who doesn’t love a pancake? Our residents at Deer Park Nursing Home really entered into the spirit of the event when we held our inaugural pancake race on Shrove Tuesday.

Activities coordinator Alyce Barber said: “This was our first-ever pancake race and we had a great time!

“Residents were flipping their pancakes as they were pushed down the corridor in wheelchairs. The race took the form of a time-trial, with a yummy chocolate prize for the winner.

“Andy O’Brien won the race, covering the length of the corridor in an impressive time of 12.5 seconds. He was very pleased with his achievement.

“Afterwards we rang the changes by offering some delicious savoury pancakes for supper. The salmon and cream cheese ones were very popular!”
