RESIDENTS’ FUND BOOST THANKS TO ‘SOLD OUT’ SIMPLY RED TICKETS GIFT
An error when purchasing tickets for Simply Red’s sell-out concert in Vienna in November inspired the purchaser to put them to good use by donating them as a fundraiser to Chestnut Lodge, where she works.
Members of the public are being invited to make a sealed bid for the gift package which includes two tickets for the concert plus £200 spending money, with a deadline for submissions of 11 July. The suggested minimum bid is £200 for the whole package.
The name of the successful bidder will be announced at the home’s summer fete on Saturday 12 July.
The donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, explained that the ticket agency made an error when processing her initial order. When they acknowledged the mistake she was able to reorder the tickets and permitted to keep the others as a gesture of goodwill.
“I saw an opportunity to donate these tickets to hopefully raise money for our wonderful residents,” she said.
“The team at Chestnut Lodge copes brilliantly with the challenging job of helping people with dementia to live their best lives, and the residents’ fund enables them to afford some extras for their ladies and gents, so we’re hoping our gift will attract some generous offers.”
Healthcare assistant Ajeena Benny (pictured) said: “This a great opportunity for the lucky successful bidder, securing them tickets for a sell-out show and £200 cash to put towards flights or accommodation.
“This Simply Red tour is celebrating the band’s 40th anniversary and Mick Hucknall says they’ll be playing all their favourite tracks from 1985 to the present. It should be fantastic.”
Entries are invited from members of the public and anyone who wishes to submit a sealed bid can either email Gary.Shackle@camelotcare.co.uk or drop it off at Chestnut Lodge at 166 Hendford Hill, Yeovil.
The concert will take place at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna on the evening of Wednesday 5 November as part of the European leg of Simply Red’s 40th Anniversary Tour this autumn.
Since Mick Hucknall founded the band in Manchester in 1985 they have sold over 60 million albums sold worldwide, had five UK number one albums, 2 billion streams across global streaming platforms, and currently have more than 1 million YouTube subscribers. All 13 of their studio albums, including their latest release “Time”, have reached the UK Top 10.
Ajeena Benny said “We’d like to thank our donor so much for this very generous contribution towards our fundraising efforts, and we wish the successful bidder an amazing time in Vienna.”
