Eight months after its official opening the first big party has taken place for residents and family members at Deer Park Nursing Home in Holsworthy, Devon, embracing the ever-popular Mad Hatter's Tea Party theme.

While thousands of spectators lined the streets of London for the Trooping of the Colour ceremony to mark King Charles III’s official birthday, residents of Butterfly Lodge in Plymouth marked the occasion with their own special garden party.

Residents of Camelot House and Lodge were delighted when a shopping trip undertaken for ‘just a loaf of bread’ turned into a full-scale weekly shop. Jean and Margaret were on what was intended to be a short outing, accompanied by manager Zillah Oakes and colleague Sam Paddon, but it unexpectedly resulted – with the residents' enthusiastic encouragement – in yielding a major trolley-full of groceries.
