Richard Dempslake, our activities co-ordinator, and the team at Camelot House and Lodge in Wellington, organised a fabulous cake sale at the service to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The cake sale took place on 29 September, providing a delicious backdrop to the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ in Wellington, and enabled us to contribute over £100 to Macmillan’s annual fundraising day.

Richard’s enthusiasm prompted numerous members of staff and family members to get baking and as you can see from his smile, he thoroughly enjoyed serving their efforts to our very appreciative residents and colleagues.

Richard said: “Some of the cakes people brought in would have had the ‘Great British Bake-Off’ contestants looking to their laurels. We are blessed with some amazing bakers around here!

“It was great that so many people were willing to join in and support the coffee morning at our service, and it gave us great pleasure both to eat the cakes and to raise cash for such a worthy cause.”
